A still from 13 Reasons Why

This year was full of new shows which got the youngsters glued to their computer screens. A few shows could be binge-watched but the others just got you hooked for days. The youngsters in Bengaluru share their favourite shows for the year with us among those are Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, Mindhunter and 13 Reasons Why.  They tell us what made them watch it again and again.

Mikita Rai, a fresh graduate tells us she absolutely loved watching the Sci-fi Netflix show, Stranger Things. “It was an amazing show and portrayed the meaning of true friendship. I’ve never seen a more intriguing TV Series in my entire life. It keeps you hanging on a thread for each episode like it keeps us wanting for more by bringing great horror, sci-fi and thrill! It has hands down been the best TV series of 2017,” she says.

Mindhunter is another American show that was popular among the college kids and even the young adults. Akash David Pichamuthu explains why he would gladly call it his favourite show. “It was one of the darker shows this year. Based in the 70s, it’s about two FBI agents who study serial killers (they actually invent the word ‘serial killers’ in the show) and form a research that could help understand the psychological nature of murderers and using that maybe prevent them in the future. Since I’m a big fan of classic rock, I loved the entire soundtrack of the show. It’s directed by one of my favourites David Fincher. The show has a very neat filming and great dialogue. But it’s really dark. I don’t think it’s everyone’s cup of tea,” he says.

What’s better than watching a show that you could totally relate to takes you back to your high school days? “13 reasons Why made me realise how strong I was cause I found I wasn’t alone in facing issues like these. Well, this show does more than that and really shows the struggles of a high school girl who comes to reality with the big bad world of rumours and deceit. I’m sure most of us can relate to that. Just watching someone make such a show was just amazing and I enjoyed and cried at every part of it because it was something that I could totally relate to as well,” says Neeshan Singh, a microbiology student.

Another diehard fan of the show Game of Thrones, Nitin Mishra tells us his love for the new season of the show that came out this year. He says, “If you think this is gonna end well, you haven’t been paying attention. In Game of Thrones, you either get messed up or end up messing someone else. Amidst all the lust for power, money and women, lurks a coming of winter.”
