50-year-old paedophile arrested for raping 8-year-old girl for three days

Hyderabad: A 50-year-old paedophile was arrested by the South Zone police for raping an eight-year-old girl for three days at Hussaini Alam. Mohd Siraj, a resident of Fateh Darwaza, lured the girl from his neighbourhood with money and chocolate before sexually assaulting her. Siraj is unmarried and works as a blacksmith. The police is investigating if he had targeted other minor girls in his neighbourhood. The girl’s mother came to know about the incident only after three days.

The mother lodged a complaint with the police and the girl was sent to the Government Maternity Hospital at Petlaburj where doctors confirmed that she was raped. Siraj has confessed during interrogation that he committed the offence. He confessed that he took advantage of the girl when she came to his house alone. “On December 31, Siraj lured the girl by giving her money and chocolates. Since she lives in the neighbourhood, she went to his home. He took the girl home again for the next two days. In the beginning, he fondled her and the girl did not know what was going on. Later he raped her, after which the girl stopped going to his house,” said an officer from Hussaini Alam police.

“Her mother found her brooding over something. On Wednesday, the mother asked her what had happened. The victim then told her what Sajid had done to her,” said K. Ashok Chakravarthy, assistant commissioner of police, Charminar. A shocked mother then approached Hussaini Alam police station and lodged a complaint. The police arrested Siraj on Friday. The police registered a case under Section 376 (rape) and Section 4 and 6 of The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and took up investigation. Siraj has been remanded by a local court.
