Tumakuru village spruced up for Narendra Modi’s visit

Mr Modi is scheduled to arrive in Tumakuru at 1.25 pm on January 3.
TUMAKURU: January 3 will be a big day for Tumakuru when Prime Minister Narendra Modi lands here to lay the foundation stone for the HAL’s Helicopter Manufacturing Unit at Bidarehalla Kaval.
On Thursday, police and Special Protection Group officials held a meeting on various issues including security. Mr Modi is scheduled to arrive in Tumakuru at 1.25 pm and after completing his engagements will fly to Bengaluru.
CM Siddaramaiah will accompany the PM from Mysuru to Tumakuru. Four helipads have been set up at Bidarehalla Kaval in Gubbi for the event. Deputy Commissioner K.P. Mohan Raj instructed the authorities concerned to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply and make other arrangements.
HAL is planning to host a ‘mini’ Aero India show to mark the foundation stone ceremony of the helicopter unit. However, this is yet to get the approval of officials as several procedures are involved, said Mohan Raj.
