Hyderabad: Rs 18 crore allotment for VIP road

The stretch from Begumpet to St. Ann’s School is one of the primary VIP routes in Hyderabad.
Hyderabad: The Telangana State Municipal Administration department, while sanctioning Rs18 crore for recarpeting and strengthening of the BT road from ST Ann’s School to Begumpet, Jabbar Buildings, made some key observations over the deterioration of the road.
The stretch from Begumpet to St. Ann’s School is one of the primary VIP routes in Hyderabad. The department observed that due to road cuttings and restorations by various line departments like HMWS&SB, TSPDCL and HMRL in particular, the road had lost its surface uniformity leading to bumps and undulations causing discomfort to road users.
“During the last two years, BT patch repairs were attended only to the extent of damaged portions, locally, by HMRL and other departments due to which the road has lost riding quality causing discomfort and endangering the safety of the road users.
For the last one and a half years, no re-carpeting works have been taken up either by R&B or by GHMC,” stated the report.
The government, while approving the project, also ratified the action of the GHMC commissioner in having called for tenders in anticipation of the administrative sanction.
GHMC commissioner Mr B. Janardhan Reddy said the stretch was last taken up by the R&B for re-carpeting in 2013 during the COP conference. “For the last one-and-a-half years, no re-carpeting works have been taken up either by R&B or by GHMC. Hence, entire re-carpeting with profile correction is needed,” he said.
