Kochi: The Solidarity Committee supporting the agitation demanding the justice for victims of bank loan mafia in the state has deplored the refusal of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is settling the over 100-day agitation by victims of bank-loan mafia.

The Chief Minister has refused to have a meeting with representatives of the victims despite submitting representations four times in the past two years, the committee said on Tuesday. Chandy has been treating the issue as a law and order problem, PJ Manuel president of the committee said.

Home minister Ramesh Chennithala meanwhile has ordered for setting up a special investigation team to probe the loan mafia racket.

The Ernakulam IG has been directed to form SIT to probe the incidents of cheating of over 25 families by a loan mafia with the connivance of certain bank officials.

The SC and ST commission had already recommended the government take steps stall attachment of properties of these victims by banks.
