Filmmaker Sajan freezes to death

The 33-year-old along with his crew was in Ladakh for filming Bibleo starring Shine Tom

Thrissur: Upcoming film director and writer Sajan Kurian, popularly known in the industry circles as Sajan Samaya, has died in Ladakh because of extremely cold conditions. The temperature dropped to minus 24 degrees Celsius and another person in his crew also fell ill. However, he recovered in a hospital.

His brother-in-law Davy P. P. told Deccan Chronicle that a friend of Sajan got a call from Ladakh saying the young director showed signs of uneasiness in breathing on Monday night and was rushed to a hospital on Tuesday morning.

But he could not be saved. He said his family did not have any information about him getting ill while shooting outdoors.

The 33-year-old along with his crew was in Ladakh for filming Bibleo starring Shine Tom, which is a psychological fantasy thriller based on his novel published recently by the same name.

Sajan had directed several movies earlier, but none reached theatres except Dancing Death starring Pasupathy and Jagadish Christmas Cake with Jagadish.

Sajan, who completed his diploma in electronics, got attracted to movies and was known for his non-compromising approach in filmmaking.

His body will be flown in on an Army aircraft to Delhi at 11 am on Wednesday and will reach Cochin International Airport at 9 pm, family sources said. He was a resident of Mission Quarters near Jubilee Mission Hospital here.
