The anganwadi workers burnt an effigy of Dendulur MLA

Eluru/Kakinada: A large number of anganwadi workers and helpers laid siege to the Collectorates at Eluru and Kakinada in both the districts demanding the state government to issue an order on their hiked wages on Friday.

At Kakinada, nearly 6,000 workers and help-ers tried to barge into the Collectorate but were stopped by the police. Heated argume-nts were exchanged between the workers and the police and in the melee, sub-inspector Y. Satish of Three Town Police station sustained minor injury.

At Eluru, similar situation prevailed at the Collectorate. During the protest several workers and police personnel suffered minor injuries. CPI and CITU workers were taken into preventive custody and shifted them to the local police station.

The anganwadi workers burnt an effigy of Dendulur MLA Chinthamanenu Prabhakar at Fire Station Centre following his unsavoury remarks against the protesting workers when they tried to meet the MLA at the ZP guest house to submit a representation on their demand.
