Delhi HC paves way for DDCA to hold India-South Africa Test

HC appointed Justice Mukul Mudgal to oversee affairs of fourth India-South Africa Test

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday paved way for Delhi and Districts Cricket Association to hold India-South Africa Test match and directed Municipal Corporation of Delhi to issue provisional occupancy certificate.

The High Court also appointed Justice Mukul Mudgal to oversee the affairs of fourth India-South Africa's Test match.

The Delhi cricket body on Tuesday had sought a one-day extension of the deadline set by BCCI for obtaining all clearances by the state association.

The DDCA moved High Court on Tuesday with a plea seeking a direction to South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) over issuing a provisional occupancy certificate (POC) to hold the international match at Ferozshah Kotla stadium.

While the match is scheduled to be held from December 3 to December 7, DDCA had sought POC from December 1 to 10.

In mounting trouble for DDCA, a Delhi Government-appointed probe panel on Tuesday recommended suspension of the capital's cricket administrator by the BCCI for alleged irregularities and said an interim committee of professionals should be appointed to replace it.

The report of the panel came on a day Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) was struggling to meet BCCI's deadline to get all required clearances from authorities by Tuesday to host the fourth Test match between India and South Africa commencing on December 3.

The probe committee recommended appointing a professional body of cricketers to run cricket administration in the city and said a commission of inquiry should be set up to probe various alleged irregularities including financial bunglings in DDCA, government sources said.
