‘Mr Anjaneya may have to resign on his own before the legislature session commences’

Bengaluru: Speculation is doing the rounds that Congress party central leaders might ask Social Welfare Minister H. Anjaneya to resign shortly, who is embroiled in cash-for-tender scam in the state.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, a senior leader form Delhi disclosed that Mr Anjaneya’s incident is somewhat similar to then Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal’s case and Mr Anjaneya might might meet the same fate as Mr Bansal. “From the beginning, the Congress party has not taken such incidents involving corruption or impropriety lightly.

Be it the case of Pawan Kumar Bansal or former Law minister Ashwini Kumar, they were sacked from their posts when scams involving them came out in the open. This despite the fact that the alleged roles of both minister were not even confirmed. Based on mere allegations, they were asked to resign from the posts,” the source explained.

The source said that in the case of Mr Anjaneya, already Aam Aadmi Party and an NGO have lodged separate complaints against the minister with the Lokayuka, alleging that he was involved in the scam.

“Both CM Siddarmaiah and KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar are tightlipped about Mr Anjaneya’s future as they expecting instructions to come from the top. As of now they are waiting. Once the order comes from senior leaders, Mr Anjaneya may have to resign on his own before the legislature session commences in Bengaluru next week,”the source said.
