Kin performs final rites in Warangal

The family members refused to take the bodies saying that Mr Rajaiah’s family should conduct the final rites
WARANGAL: After the post mortem of Sarika and her three children — Abhinav, Ayan and Sriyan — their final rites were conducted on Thursday at the Pothana Nagar cremation ground.
Initially, the family members refused to take the bodies saying that Mr Rajaiah’s family should conduct the final rites.
Later, after discussions, they decided to take the bodies but refused to conduct the final rites at their native village in Nizamabad. The final rites were conducted in Warangal with the help of Vishwa Brahmana Sangam.
Meanwhile, relatives, women rights activists and politicians demanded severe punishment for Mr Rajaiah and his family, holding them responsible for the deaths.
A protest was also held at the MGM centre on Thursday asking for severe action so that such incidents are not repeated. Sarika’s mother, Ms Lalitha and sister Ms Archana alleged that Mr Rajaiah and his family members had killed her and that it was not a case of suicide.
MRPS leader Mr Manda Krishna Madiga, who visited the hospital on Thursday, demanded a CBI investigate into the case.
“Whatever might be the cause of death, she died because of the harassment of her husband and in-laws. CBI should be pressed into the case,” he said.
