Feudalism is back in Telangana, says Dr Ilaiah

‘The migrants cannot go back to villages since they have nothing there’ - Dr Ilaiah

Hyderabad: Prominent academic and writer Professor Dr Kancha Ilaiah on Saturday said that feudalism is coming back in Telangana after the bifurcation. He said while suicides are increasing in the villages of Telangana due to draught the government is focusing on developing cities.

Dr Ilaiah was speaking while introducing his new book Feudalism Malliochindi, which will be released in the first week of November. Dr Ilaiah said the government should stop sp-ending big amounts on celebrations like pushkaralu and instead focus on helping the farmers.

“With bifurcation feudal forces are controlling the regional economy and politics once again. A large number of farmers are already in distress due to the massive drought in all the 10 districts. Labourers and educated unemployed youths are likely to fall into distress because of these forces,” he said.

“A large number of workers lost their jobs in the construction and hotel industries and gold and cloth markets because of companies shutting down in Hyderabad. Drivers and plumbers are also not finding work in Hyderabad. The migrants cannot go back to villages since they have nothing there,” he said.
