Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India has deputed dozen-odd officers to probe the accusation levelled by the Opposition of selective deletion of lakhs of voters in GHMC limits and other parts of Telangana State.
The EC team, which is in the city, will split into batches and spread across the GHMC limits and other parts of the state to verify the Opposition charge of willful deletion.
A similar probe was done back in 2001, it is learnt. Earlier, former minister Marri Sasidhar Reddy had blamed the TRS government for the deletion of names, saying that it was done at the behest of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
