Dasari Narayana Rao takes a dig at big families

Veteran producer-director Dasari Narayana Rao took a dig at the big families of Tollywood during the audio release of Tripura on Thursday evening. While praising actor Naveen Chandra’s hard work in the industry, he said, “These days, 10 actors are coming from the big film families. It is very difficult for outsiders to get a chance… and even if they get a chance, it is very difficult to prove their talent. It’s not easy for outsiders in the industry.”
While not naming the Ram Charan starrer Bruce Lee, he said, “I reiterate once again that small films should be released on the festival days. Look at the releases few days ago on Dasara. All are doing well and all are small films.” The one big film, Bruce Lee, which released on Dasara, did not do well at the box office at all.
Praising some of the directors for their films’ success, he added, “Sekhar Kammula, Krish, Rajamouli and a few other directors’ films tasted success because of them. It was their success; they believed in their story, not the star.” he says. He added that he had argued with the late Sivaji Ganesan about the same. “A director can create a hundred stars, but a star can’t create a director or a star,” said Dasari. Kona Venkat and Krish Jagarlamudi attended the music release of Tripura along with the film’s director Raj Kiran and the unit.
