Japanese blanket invention is the best way to keep warm in winter

Finally a legit excuse to remain in bed all day

Wanted to keep away the wintry chill and stay warm all day? Well, the Japanese have successfully managed to not only do just that but also gives you a legit excuse to stay in bed all day.

This ingenious idea – known as kotasu – features a blanket placed between a low table-frame and table-top with a heat source placed underneath the blanket. Simply place your legs under the blanket and have warm air some through, gently heating the whole body in the process.

The kotasu can be traced way back to the 14th century Japanese irori or cooking hearth. These kotasus act as effective space heaters on Japanese homes having little insulation, according to the Bored Panda.
