Chhota Rajan orchestrated his own arrest?

Rajan's family back in Mumbai is also breathing a sigh of relief after the news of his arrest

Mumbai: Throwing a new spotlight on the arrest of infamous criminal Chhota Rajan that took place in Bali on Monday, new reports have emerged that the arrest was orchestrated by the erstwhile member of the 'D-gang' himself.

According to a report in MidDay, old age, paranoia and insecurity lead the ageing don to chart his own arrest. "He planned his own arrest and shared his travel itinerary and passport details with the contacts in Indian government who later shared it with the Australian authorities in a red corner notice. They further alerted the Indonesian authorities," a source close to Chhota Rajan was quoted as saying.

He killed journalist JDey earlier on 2011 thinking he was tipping off Chhota Shakeel, and many others were also killed on mere suspicion. Chhota Shakeel even tried to kill Rajan in Australia July this year, added the source, emphasising the paranoia that had gripped the Tilak Nagar gangster. With added kidney trouble, Rajan beleived that turning himself in was the best option.

Rajan's family back in Mumbai is also breathing a sigh of relief after the news of the arrest as they were fretting for his safety and are now assured that he would be safe within the prison, from where he could always manage his affairs.

Chhota Rajan, one of India's most wanted criminals who has been on the run for nearly two decades, was arrested in Bali by Indonesian police. The arrest was made on a tip off from Australian police that 55-year-old Rajendra Sadashiv Nikalje alias Mohan Kumar alias Chota Rajan, the powerful aide-turned-rival of terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, has flown from Sydney to Indonesia's popular tourist destination Bali, a place he frequents to visit a hotel belonging to his aide Anil Chandra.
