K Chandrasekhar Rao not to speak at Andhra Pradesh capital venue

Desam and TRS feel GHMC polls prompted KCR to accept Naidu’s invite

Hyderabad: Even as Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been invited and he is attending the AP new capital Amaravati stone-laying ceremony on Thursday, as per the tightest schedule that has been officially released by AP minister, he along with a few other high dignitaries will remain mere spectators and not going to make any speeches, even briefly.

More than anybody else going to be present on the dais, it is obvious that Seema-Andhra people would like Mr Chandra-sekhar Rao who fought for separate Telangana state would present himself on the dais and speak. But as per the schedule annou-nced by AP information minister Palle Raghu-natha Reddy on Wedne-sday, high dignitaries like three Governors including Mr E.S.L. Narasimhan, Punjab and Telangana Chief Ministers, two Judges from Supreme Court and the only Union Minister from AP Ashok Gajapathi Raju would not either speak or offer their ‘blessings’ on the historic occassion.

AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union minister for urban affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu, Singapore and Japan Ministers are the only others who would speak on the occasion apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, hectic debate is on over AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu keeping aside all the controversies with his Telan-gana counterpart and personally inviting Chandrasekhar Rao for the event. Insiders of both the TRS and the Telugu Desam say that the ensuing GHMC polls have only made the two Chief Ministers to strike a political compromise on the eve of the polls wherein over 30 lakh Seema-Andhra voters are to play a key role.

TD sources said Mr Naidu’s plan in inviting Mr Chandrasekhar Rao was to show that he was not averse to Telangana people and to their Chief Minister by inviting him for the Amaravati event and also he was one who wanted to maintain cordial relations with his counterpart. Mr Naidu’s gameplan was that Mr Chandrasekhar Rao could not avoid his invite as it may send a wrong message even among Telangana people. TRS sources said, by readily accepting the invite from Mr Naidu, the Telangana Chief Minister also thought it would be another step to reach out to the Seema-Andhra voters in the GHMC who are generally being branded as ‘anti-TRS’ only to show that he is not unamicable to any particular section in Hyderabad that houses several communities drawn from different states.

“In case KCR had declined to attend the function, there would have been a vicious campaign against the TRS in the coming GHMC polls, especially by TD Seema-Andhra leaders. By okaying the invite and attending the function our Chief Minister has only exhibited his magnanimity,” one of the TRS ministers has said. However, Opposition party Congress leaders say both the Chief Ministers came to a compromise on Cash for Vote Scam as well as the Phone-Tapping scam by deciding to bury their differences and also not to proceed further in the cases.
