Declare Shiv Sena as a “terrorist organisation”, says Pakistan Punjab Assembly to UN

The group says peace in India is in danger because of the party’s fury at BCCI headquarters

Islamabad: Pakistan's Punjab provincial assembly on Monday condemned a protest by Shiv Sena at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai and demanded that the UN declare the party a "terrorist organisation."

In a resolution adopted by the House, the assembly condemned the protests by Shiva Sena activists at events related to Pakistan, including the protest at the BCCI headquarters over a meet of Indian and Pakistani cricket board chiefs to revive the India-Pakistan cricketing ties.

The Punjab Assembly adopted the resolution proposed by Pakistan People's Party (PPP) lawmaker Faiza Malik. The resolution said that the activities of Shiv Sena have put at risk the safety of Muslims and followers of other religions in India.

"Peace in the region is in danger because of Shiv Sena, states the resolution," it said.

The resolution demanded that the United Nations ban Shiv Sena and declare it a "terrorist organisation."

Earlier, more than a hundred Shiv Sena workers broke into the BCCI office in Mumbai, just before its chief Shashank Manohar was to meet with his Pakistani counterpart Shahryar Khan.
