BJP to expand in Andhra Pradesh without Telugu Desam

Hyderabad: The BJP is working on a road map for expansion in AP for growth independent of the Telugu Desam. With the new chief of the AP BJP likely to be declared by central leadership in the next few weeks, party leaders have intensified criticisim of the TD government.

BJP MLC Somu Verraju, top contender for the state BJP president’s post, on Thursday said the TD government was not using funds on the Polavaram properly. Mr Verraju met BJP national president Narendra Modi and said that the Polavaram project should be taken over by the Centre. Former MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and former Union minister D. Purandeswari have been vocal against the TD. Mr Rao alleged that TD was stunting the growth of the BJP in the state.
