Balakrishna wants more historical films

Balakrishna asked filmmakers to come up with more films based on Telugu culture and history

Nandamuri Balakrishna was the special guest for the music release of Sathi Thimmamamba. The function was held in Anantapur as the film is based on the local culture and takes place in the 13th century during Krishnadevaraya’s time.

On the occasion, Balakrishna asked filmmakers to come up with more films based on Telugu culture and history. “Our Telugu culture is now in danger as it is influenced by other languages and cultures. It is time that our filmmakers came up with more films based on Telugu culture and history,” he said.

The film relates the history of the Thimmamamba Marrimanu tree near Anantapur, which is spread over nearly seven acres. “From my childhood, I liked to read and listen to historical and mythological stories. I know this film’s story and I hope it will enthrall everyone,” says the actor.

He adds that the protagonist, Thimmamamba, was a family member of the 13th century ruler Krishnadevaraya who ruled Anantapur district at that time.
