Khammam: A girl has succeeded in marrying her boyfriend after some twists and turns. At one stage, she staged a dharna in front of the bridegroom, who did not turn up at the marriage spot in the appointed hour. Locals and the police extended their support to the would-be-bride, at Ramavaram in Kothagudem on Wednesday, leading to the marriage.
Police said Kampalli Pradeep, 25, who discontinued his degree course, was after M Alekhya, 23, studying a computer course. He proposed love to her. But, Alekhya, who hesitated first, agreed to Pradeep’s proposal. They loved each other for some time and then Alekhya asked him to marry her. Then on, Pradeep started keeping a distance with her. She approached the police and elders. They counseled Pradeep and convinced him to marry her.
The two families fixed the marriage on Wednesday at the temple in Ramavaram. The bride and her relatives waited for long, but Pradeep did not turn up. Alekhya then went to his house in the attire of a bride and staged a dharna demanding that he should come out and marry her. Circle inspector of town police station N Sudhakar and some locals extended support to her. Finally, Pradeep married Alekhya at the temple, with family elders standing by.
