Parents of girl booked for verbal torture and abuse

Hyderabad: A 12-year-old girl, who was being physically and verbally tortured by her parents for five years, has been rescued by the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR).

The victim is a Class VII student and resident of Boduppal. Her parents are Srinivas, an auto driver, and Jyothirani, a housewife. The victim claimed that her parents drank every day and would beat her, the eldest of their four children, regularly.

She said that since she was seven, she was beaten often and abused. She also accused her father of making indecent approaches. “My mother had pushed me in front of a running bus, trying to kill me. A few days ago, she had tried to stab me but I was saved by my grandmother,” she said.
