Foundation stone schedule bad for Andhra Pradesh: Astrologers

Foundation stone for the new capital Amaravati will be laid at 12.45 pm on October 22

Kakinada/Vijayawada: The muhurtam chosen by the state government for laying the foundation stone for the new capital Amaravati — 12.45 pm on October 22, Vijayadasami — has been questioned by astrologers and Vastu pandits. “If the government is firm on Vijayadasami, the earlier Dhanurlagna on that day at 11.39 am can be chosen instead of the Makara Lagna at 12.45 pm,” said Pallavajhula Sriramakrishna Sarma of Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district, secretary of the Vasthu Vignana Parishad.

He said the time scheduled by the government holds danger to its stability. “The ceremony is a matter of great importance for the people and the muhurtam should have been fixed in consultation with experts in astrology and Vastu pandits. The opinion of an individual astrologer or pandit may not be correct and suitable,” said Vijayawada-based astrologer Pulipaka Chandrasekhara Rao. He said the government should have consulted with the endowment department and invited astrologers for the purpose.

State Drukh Siddantha Almanac Writers Association president H. Subrahamanya Sarma, Tadigadapa Subba Rao, Tadigadapa Balamurali and Veerabhadra Varaprasad asked to clarify who had decided the muhurtham.
