Idols go slowly, Hyderabad in a jam

Police Lines, Begumpet, Panjagutta Road also saw heavy traffic jams from around noon
Hyderabad: The immersion of Ganesha idols which stretched till the evening on Monday resulted in traffic jams on arterial roads all around the city, infuriating motorists who spent hours behind the wheel.
At least four ambulances carrying patients got stuck in heavy traffic. The immersion was finally completed on Monday night with the immersion of the Khairatabad Ganesh idol.
Tank Bund and the stretch from Necklace Road to Telugu Talli flyover, NTR Marg were closed for general traffic to allow vehicles immersion. The blowback was felt on the Raj Bhavan Road, VV statue, and Khairatabad flyover.
Starting from around 10 am, traffic came to a standstill for hours from Shadan College towards Nirankari, Old PS Saifabad and Nirankari towards Ravindra Bharathi. Tarnaka, Mettuguda, Alugaddabavi, Sangeet crossroads, Police Lines, Begumpet, Panjagutta Road also saw heavy traffic jams from around noon.
Towards evening too, there was heavy traffic flow at Greenlands Junction towards Begumpet, Rasoolpura and Paradise.
