I share a comfort level with Tej: Regina Cassandra

Regina Cassandra talks about the bond she shares with her co-star Sai Dharam Tej and more...
Regina Cassandra’s makeover from the girl-next-door image in her latest movie Subramanyam for Sale has surprised many. Though she has done nearly 11 films in Telugu, this is the first time she appears in a bold and glamorous avatar.
Regina gives all the credit to director Harish Shankar and cameraman Ram Prasad. “Seetha is my best character till date. Harish said I had to project a different image, something I have never done before. Many called me after watching the movie and said this is my best look so far.”
The movie also gives her a big break with stunning dance moves. Though she has been actively participating in dance competitions since school days, this is her first big dance in a movie, especially to the remix song of Guvva Gorinka. “Yes, in my earlier films I didn’t get a chance to dance. I did dance in a couple of films, but nothing like this. For Guvva Gorinka, I decided I have to give my best performance,” she says.
The original song, featuring Chiranjeevi and Bhanupriya, was a hit back then. “I have watched the old song several times. People will always compare ours to the original one and we know that we can’t match their steps. So we wanted to bring out our best. Moreover, I was waiting for this chance and didn’t want to let myself down. So we worked hard and now I’m very happy to hear so much appreciation,” she says.
Being her second movie with actor Sai Dharam Tej, she was very comfortable acting with him, including in intimate scenes. Regina says since both of them knew each other for three years, they had a comfort level. “We know each other for a long time and I have seen him growing as an actor and we have a bonding and a comfort level. Knowing him as a person and actor, I am familiar with his body language, so it’s easy for us to work together,” she says.
When asked about the talks doing rounds that the actor was forcing producers in his upcoming films to choose her as the female lead, Regina says: “It’s all just rumours.”
The actress is now busy with two projects — one is opposite Gopichand and the other opposite Manchu Manoj. “Both characters are completely different,” she says.
Is she open to more glamorous characters in future? “In the Manchu Manoj-starrer film, I am not playing a glamorous character. If I like a script, I will do the role, be it glamorous or non-glamorous,” Regina clarifies.
The actress has also completed a Tamil film opposite Sundeep Kishan. She wants to balance her career in both Kollywood and Tollywood. “Tamil is my native language and I am looking forward to doing some more good projects,” she signs off.
