I’m only afraid of dengue mosquitoes: Ashok Kheny

Reacting to the warning issued by Hindu outfits
Bengaluru: Swatting criticism about his plans to make a film of Tipu Sultan aside, prominent film producer, NICE MD and Bidar South MLA Ashok Kheny on Wednesday said that he was afraid only of dengue mosquitoes in life. Reacting to the warning issued by Hindu outfits and a few members from the BJP against his plans to produce a film based on Tipu Sultan on a mega scale starring superstar Rajinikanth playing the great ruler of Mysuru sultanate.
“Around two years ago, Rajinikathji and I met and decided to make a film. I am very fascinated with historical movies. I wanted to do a film as big and good as Gandhi or Mughal-e-Azam. We discussed a lot and thought of doing a film based on Shivaji for obvious reasons that Rajinikanth is a born Maharashtrian but while taking the present modern Indian context, Tipu came across for his bravery, fighting against
the foreign invaders and
the only ruler who defeated British army. Rajinikanth too liked it and asked me
to do research and come up with a script,” said Kheny.
On the controversy, he questioned: “If Tipu is anti-Hindu according to those who are opposing it, then why are lessons based on him included in textbooks. They should understand before making a point. I ask them to show a King or a Queen in the last 1,000 years who has not killed Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, or people of any other religion in wars. Of course, Tipu has killed Hindus during wars but he was not anti-Hindu. I still remember my first trip to Srirangapatna along with my parents when I was 10 years old. The priest at the temple told us that Tipu would always visit the temple and seek the blessing of God before any special occasion in his life.”
“My film Neene Bari Neene released last week and now I am determined to make a huge film on Tipu Sultan. Thereafter my dream is to make a film on the life of great reformer Jagat Jyoti Basaveshwar. Does that mean that I do not like non-Lingayats? Films are my passion and I appreciate good subjects,” Kheny said. On Rajinikanth’s response to the ongoing controversy, Kheny said that he will go before Rajinikanth only after doing the ground work along with the script.
