Dammapet faces severe problems

No guarantee of staff coming on time

Khammam: The people in Dammapet mandal, a native mandal of minister for roads and buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao, have been facing many problems due to the lack of governance in various departments.

The dereliction of duties by the employees, lack of commitment and sincerity in departments like women and child welfare, revenue and Transco is a never-ending source of tension particularly for the women and farmers.

Kursa Jamuna, a new mother in Rasulapalli village under Dammapet mandal complained that she is not getting any food material from the local Integrated Child Development Society (ICDS) centre for the last 15 days. When asked about it, the anganwadi workers said that they are not receiving any food material from the government.

Dammapet mandal used to raise horticulture crops predominantly and had no assistant engineer as the post was lying vacant for the last one year. There were six sub-stations in the mandal and it is highest number in one particular mandal in the limits of NPDCL. Dammapet is identified as a horticulture hub in Khammam district and groundwater is available in plenty there. The farmers are facing hardships to get power connection with Transco employees, who are demanding money for every job.

Majority of the employees in MDO/EORD office have been residing in in Khammam and used to ply from district headquarters daily.

There is no guarantee of employees coming on time to the office. Coming late is common and the beneficiaries of various villages have to wait for them to arrive. 90 per cent of village revenue officers do not reside in their respective villages and they commute from Khammam or other towns. Corruption thrives in the mandal revenue office and the staff demand money from every beneficiary. Further, one of the gates of MRO office was closed to rectify a vaastu defect!
