K B Koliwad’s son takes up Cloud seeding

The NGO kept an aircraft ready for cloud-seeding operation on Sunday
Hubballi: Though the State government has not taken up cloud-seeding despite the drought condition in the state, an NGO headed by the son of Ranibennur legislator K.B. Koliwad, has taken up such an initiative.
Aircraft ready
The NGO kept an aircraft ready for cloud-seeding operation on Sunday. But lack of clouds forced the meteorological experts to suspend the operation. It will commence operation on Monday in Haveri district if the weather conditions are favourable.
Koliwad’s son, Prakash Koliwad, owns a company, Kyathi Climate Modification Consultants, which specialises in cloud-seeding operations. The company has been undertaking such operations since eight years.
The company’s cloud-seeding operation is on in Maharashtra now as per an agreement with the government of that state. The plight of farmers in his home district prompted Prakash Koliwad to take up cloud-seeding at a cost of Rs 2 crore.
“There is lack of awareness among farmers about this scientific method. I am planning to take up cloud-seeding for two days from Monday,” he said.
