Aylan Kurdi’s aunt wants the world to remember him as a happy child

The image of the dead child washed ashore in a Turkish island went viral on the Social media

London: One image is all it took to make Britain change its policies on the Mediterranean Asylum seekers. But the aunt of 3-year-old Aylan Kurdi, the child who was washed up on a Turkish beach, seeks that the toddler be remembered as a happy child and not merely 'as a dead baby on the beach.'

According to reports, Muhammad Lila, an ABC News reporter, posted a picture of the child from happier times in Twitter with the description "just spoke with Aylan's aunt. Asking people to stop using drowning photo. Wants world to remember him smiling."

The image of the dead child washed ashore on a Turkish island went viral on the Social media after at least 12 Syrian refugees, died trying to reach the Greek island of Kos. The child's elder brother and mother were among the dead.

The hashtag “KiyiyaVuranInsanlik” – “humanity washed ashore” – became the top trending topic on Twitter after the picture was retweeted heavily. Europe's refugee and migrant crisis has escalated over the summer, leaving the continent divided over how to deal with a flood of people led by Syrians fleeing war in their homeland.

The situation in Syria, the origin of the largest number of refugees, has worsened because of the rise of the Islamic State extremist group and continuing civil war.
