Adhik Ravichandran’s film to have a bold climax

Trisha Illana Nayanthara (TIN) director Adhik Ravichandran appears to be a confident man these days, looking forward to his movie’s release. “I’m very privileged to be able to complete a movie without compromising too much. I didn’t feel like a newbie at all! It can be very tough, especially for a first-time director like me, but I count myself lucky,” he says.

What does he have to say with the film being certified ‘A’ from the Censor Board? “TIN is a bold film, which deals with relationships. It’s about how people have to move on when love fails and handle break ups. It actually is very tough for boys to understand the mood swings that girls have! When somebody is hurt and extremely angry or frustrated, it’s normal to use harsh swear words and unparliamentary language. I muted scenes 78 times during the film, but the Censor Board still asked me to cut two kissing scenes. That was a bit disappointing — the youth audiences come to the theatres would be expecting such things! I was expecting a ‘U/A’ certificate but we got ‘A’ in the end — nevertheless, I am still happy. Actually many suggested I do this film in Hindi, but I went ahead with Tamil instead. It shall be out on September 17,” Adhik tells us.

The director also claims that his film’s climax will be the boldest-ever in Tamil cinema, “So far, I don't think any director has opted for this sort of climax. One needs guts to end a film like in the way I have! It’s about having confidence on yourself as well as the film,” he smiles.

What will be next for him? “I think the way I narrate stories based on relationships is my strength. Seeing the response of the TIN trailers and teasers, many producers approached me. But I want to take it slow. I’ll keep narrating scripts to producers, and after the response of this film, I’ll take a call on my next venture,” he signs off.
