Modi anti-farmer, says Sonia Gandhi

Sonia Gandhi pitches for the grand alliance in Bihar Assembly polls

Patna: Dubbing the Narendra Modi government at the Centre as “anti-farmer”, Congress president Sonia Gandhi attacked the PM over his silence on a series of scams that rocked the nation in the past 15 months, including the multi-crore Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh and the “Lalitgate” controversy involving top BJP leaders.

“The Modi government is not only anti-farmer but has also failed on the issue of corruption. His silence on the issue of the Vyapam scam and Modigate is adverse to his promises to give a corruption free-environment in the country,” the Congress chief said.

She said the Modi government had done nothing except “show-baazi” despite having completed one-fourth of its tenure. Mrs Gandhi, urging the people of Bihar to vote in favour of the Nitish Kumar-led grand secular alliance, said, “Vote for our alliance so that we can free you from the government which made false promises to trap you. They spoke about the Prime Minister’s 56-inch chest, but his policy is making everyone suffer.”
