Floral motifs light up Onakodi

Innovative floral patterns add to the beauty of the traditional garment
Flowers are an integral part of Onam celebration. Flowers are used to make the floral carpet and women put jasmine flowers on their hair while performing Thiruvathira. Just like flowers, Onakodi too is an inevitable part of Onam celebration. This year, to make Onam special, designers Anu and Reshma of Label’M have come up with a collection featuring ‘flowers’. They have beautified the simple handloom saree by adding different types of floral motifs, appliqués and cut works.
“Flower patterns will give a pleasant look to the costume. Sarees with hand-painted floral patterns are our highlights. Besides, there are attires with prints and traditional motifs along with the main collection. We have brought the happiness of flowers on to the saree, davani, anarkali, and kurtas and we have done experiments retaining the charm of the traditional costume,” say Anu and Reshma.
