Harry behind 1D split?

One Direction’s fans were shocked when news broke that they would be “taking some much needed time off” in the following year. While Niall Horan, 21, Liam Payne, 21, and Louis Tomlinson, 23, all guaranteed fans, via Twitter, that the band wasn’t splitting up for good, Harry Styles, 21, remained noticeably silent on the matter.

Apparently, Harry has reportedly been trying to break away from his cohorts for months now in order to finally pursue his solo career, according to In Touch magazine. “(Harry) has been a driving force on the boys splitting,” a source close to the band told the magazine. “Harry’s career couldn’t be hotter right now,” the source added. “He’s been besieged with movie offers. Waiting any longer could kill the opportunity. Harry knows that leaving on top is the best way to launch the next step of his career.”

Reportedly, Harry’s continuous solo offers have caused “severe jealousy and resentment” from the other guys, which ultimately led to their decision of an extended hiatus.

However, a rep for the band told HollywoodLife.com, “No discussions about solo deals are happening with any members of One Direction currently. Sony is fully committed to all of One Direction and is looking forward to the release of the group’s new album.”
