The accused had surrendered before police on Sunday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Baiju K. Balakrishnan, 21, of Kannur the prime accused in CET accident case, was remanded to judicial custody on Monday.

The accused had surrendered before police on Sunday. Balakrishnan has been charged with unlawful assembly, culpable homicide not amounting to murder and destruction of evidence. He was produced before a Judicial First Class Magistrate who will also consider a custody application by police on Tuesday.

The police will need custody of Baiju to gather evidence from college and retrieve his driving license.

Baiju has claimed that he had entered into an agreement to purchase the jeep from Sreerag of Moovatupuzha, an alumnus of the college who previously owned the vehicle.
