Ton-up Rahul can remain calm in any situation, says his mother

'We are very delighted with his century today and hope he scores many more'

Mumbai: Lokesh Rahul's first Test hundred had come just before one of the breaks in the match against Australia at Sydney earlier this year.

On Thursday, he again had some anxious moments before the tea break in the Test against Sri Lanka at P. Sara Oval.

"Yes, he was on 98 at the tea break but I am sure he would have remained calm during this break. He can remain very calm in all situations," his mother, Rajeshwari, said from Mangalore.

"We are very delighted with his century today and hope he scores many more."

Rahul’s mother didn't watch him play on Thursday.

"I was taking a class when the good news came. My husband telephoned me and gave this news. Obviously we are very happy," Rahul's mother, who is an associate professor at the Mangalore University College, said.

KNL Lokesh, the father, lawyer by profession, did watch part of the game on first day. "Yes, I could not watch his entire day's play but watched part of his innings," he said.

"Rahul telephoned to us yesterday and as usual we didn't discuss anything on cricket. He tries to avoid talking on the game when on tours. We exchanged the pleasantries."

"Now we are very keen to speak to him and congratulate him for his century. Keep playing hard, the God is with you", will be my message to him," the mother said.

"Rahul is a devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba and we pray Baba showers blessings on him,” she concluded.
