AIADMK ministers, MPs warn EVKS Elangovan

The tone and tenor of the AIADMK approach was set by their party paper Nammadu MGR
Chennai: MLAs and ministers of the ruling AIADMK warned Congress leader E.V.K.S. Elangovan on Wednesday that their party cadres would turn aggressive, if the Congress leader failed to stop using derogatory remarks against their party supremo J. Jayalalithaa. “We have respect for Sulochana Sampath’s family, but her son (Elangovan) is stooping low, breaking the political etiquette of TN,” handloom minister Gokula Indira told DC.
“Political leaders meeting each other is common. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi would also discuss for long. Will this demon (EVKS) dare to speak anything derogatory of his leaders? Why then does he speak about our Amma?
“As Chief Minister, she submitted a 28-page memorandum to the PM, seeking funds for the development of the state. If Elangovan was really concerned about TN, he should have spoken about development and not tried to make cheap politics,” the minister added.
The tone and tenor of the AIADMK approach was set by their party paper Nammadu MGR, which stated clearly that Elangovan was out of line. “He will be beaten up in public and there are hardly 10 Congress cadres in a district to protect him,” reiterated former R K Nagar MLA and AIADMK strongman P. Vettrivel.
“Our cadres and functionaries are forced to be silent and Elangovan is trying to create a law and order problem through his hate speech. He should remember that the AIADMK is a party with 1.5 crore members including 25 lakh active workers. Police are now stopping us, but we can outnumber police at any time. It is time for Elangovan to behave so that he can protect his party workers or else we will teach them a fitting lesson.”
“Karunanidhi, Ramadoss, Tamilisai, Vaiko and Elangovan are campaigning against Amma for their political survival. “But there has to be decorum and this is inviting trouble,” added Central Chennai MP S. R. Vijayakumar.
