NIA to conduct lie detector test on LeT terrorist Naved today

Naved has been giving misleading statements to security agencies over the past 10 days

New Delhi: Captured Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Naved Yakub is all set to undergo a lie detector test on Tuesday, which is expected to shed light on his handlers and bring out the facts of the actual terror conspiracy hatched on Pakistani soil.

Naved, who is learnt to have been given some drugs before he set foot on Indian soil, has been giving misleading statements to the security agencies over the past 10 days about his Indian contacts and the route he took to infiltrate Jammu & Kashmir.

The DNA and voice samples of the alleged LeT operative will also be obtained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). NIA sources said collecting the DNA samples of the militant from Faislabad in Pakistan could help in proving his nationality. Islamabad has been insisting that Naved is not a Pakistani national.

It may be recalled that Naved had been overpowered by the locals following the attack on a BSF bus in Udhampur, Jammu on August 5 that left its two personnel dead.

On Monday, Naved was produced before district judge, who held in-camera proceedings and ordered for a lie detector test at 11 am Tuesday at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in CGO complex.

Naved was brought in the court complex in a muffled face amid tight security. The NIA, in its application, had said that during the interrogation Naved was found to have inconsistencies in his statements.
