Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) had earlier issued a notice to Ms Tata and Outlook magazine under Section 41 A, for publishing an article and a cartoon, allegedly defaming a female IAS officer of Telangana.
Based on the complaint by the officer’s husband, CCS had registered a case and issued notices to the magazine. Ms Tata and cartoonist Sahil, appeared before the investigating officer who recorded their statements.
“We have recorded their statements. After going through the statements, a further course of action will be decided based on the status of the case,” said CCS DCP T. Prabhakar. Outlook, in its July 7 edition, had published an article, “No boring babu”, in its “Deep Throat” column, which alleged that the female officer, at every meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, made “fashion statements with her lovely saris and serves as ‘eye candy’ at meetings”.
The article was supported by a caricature that depicted the female officer walking the ramp in Western outfits. CCS police had registered a case against the magazine and its staff under Section 509, read with Section 3 of IT Act 67.
