Rishiteswari death: Ragging suicide note ‘corrected’

There are suspicions that another student, who was involved in the case, is being put aside.

Guntur: “Corrections” being made to B.Arch student Rishiteswari’s suicide note is increasing suspicions. In Rishiteswari’s second suicide note, which came to light on Tuesday, the names of the accused were covered with ink. The students are alleging that Acharya Nagarjuna University officials and the police are trying to save the accused.

The police and ANU officials had said they had recovered a three-page suicide note written in Telugu, but now, a five-page suicide note written in English was found from Rishiteswari’s diary.

There are also suspicions that another student, who was involved in the case, is being put aside. Student unions are planning to bring the second suicide note issue to the notice of the fact-finding committee led by former IAS officer S. Balasubramanyam.

A TV channel showed some portions of the suicide note in which Rishiteswari wrote about the behaviour of the students. She had written that senior students behaved rudely in the freshers’ party and touched her. She wrote that unable to bear the sexual abuse, she decided to commit suicide.

Rishiteswari’s father M. Muralikrishna alleged that neither the police nor ANU officials informed them about the second suicide note. He alleged that this shows the efforts to save the accused who forced his daughter to end her life.

Mr Muralikrishna alleged that the names of the accused had been obliterated from the the suicide note and demanded that Rishiteswari’s diary be handed over.
