Friendship Day frenzy catches up in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: Nostalgia is here, there and everywhere on Saturday, a day ahead of the Friendship Day, and what better way than relive all those beautiful memories of school and college days.
“Vizag is all set to celebrate the true spirit of friendship on a grand scale on Sunday,” said a friend who had come over. And true her word, every shop in Vizag, right from well-known supermarkets to make-shift centres, was bustling with heavy rush with the customers buying gifts for their beloved friends on Saturday.
Initially, seen as a fad created for purely business reasons, the changing technology has probably contributed to the revival of this trend. Many youngsters from the city are preparing for this day to make their beloved friends know how special they are, in various forms, including tying bracelets, showering with gifts and throwing parties.
R. Lavanya, a management student, said, “It is a day where we can express our love and gratitude to the beloved friends in the form of gifts, including our parents and every person who helps us at every stage of our lives, from street-corner vegetable vendors to the paperboy.”
For the party animals, every mall, bakery and restaurant is partaking in this special day that means so much to the young and old alike.
Novotel has scheduled ‘My Party’, Bean Board has thought up of ‘Pay a Drink Forward', Green Park has put up a special lunch and HiFy Gokarting Race Circuit is hosting ‘Party Boom’ to name a few.
A few youth from Vizag have started contests on the social media asking others to post photos with their friends.
