Shilpa, Kangana, Chitrangada, Richa strut down the ramp with elan

<p><img src="http://dd508hmafkqws.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/styles/article_node_view/public/previewimage/gallery/2015/Aug/ramp news.jpg"></p><p>Shilpa Shetty walked the ramp for Delhi-based designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula on the fourth day of Amazon India Couture Week 2015. Donning a heavily embroidered gold lehenga-choli, the star, who walked for the designers for the first time, looked subtle yet royal in their Days of Raj inspired collection titled "Maharajah & Co."</p><p>Shilpa, 40, who appeared on the ramp during the middle of the show, loved the concept. "I just fell in love with the concept of the show. In those times there was no option to take selfies and photographers were actually commissioned to come take there photo. It was unique and I loved the way the old world charm was created on stage," she said.</p><p>"I have been wearing Rimple and Harpreet's creation, but this is the first time I am walking the ramp as a show-stopper for them. They are very talented and I feel really happy in walking for them," Shilpa told reporters.</p><p><img src="http://dd508hmafkqws.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/styles/article_node_view/public/shilpa shetty ramp walk 2.jpg"></p><p>The designer duo, who are known for mixing rural craft juxtaposed with fine hand embroideries, were excited with Shilpa being their showstopper. "Shilpa was a perfect showstopper for us. The way she pulled of the outfit no one else could have done," said Rimple.</p><p><img src="http://dd508hmafkqws.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/styles/article_node_view/public/shilpa shetty ramp walk 3.jpg"></p><p>The collection, which was dominated by subtle gold karigari, presented the early interactions of the royals with western luxury where they called the photographers from Europe to capture them. "Our inspiration was Maharaja and company. And the main theme of the show was how Maharaja's functioned in the past with influence from the West," she added.</p><p><img src="http://dd508hmafkqws.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/styles/article_node_view/public/shilpa shetty ramp walk 4.jpg"></p><p>Painted in the hues of ivory, beige, burnished golds and velveteen ruby, all the outfits of collection had hand-crafted embroidery and crystals embedded on it. The actress, who received a lot of praise for pulling off the heavy outfit with ease, said glamour comes with a lot of weight. Titled "Shahbanu", the couture line reflected mughal era glam with live performances by a thumri singer and renowned Sufi Qawwali group Nizami Bandhu, who have recently sung in Salman Khan's latest "Bajarangi Bhaijan".</p><p><img src="http://dd508hmafkqws.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/styles/article_node_view/public/richa chadha ramp walk 2.jpg"></p><p>Looking every bit of a royal princess, Chadha confidently walked the ramp with 'nazakat' wearing a maroon and gold heavily embroidered lehenga and choli, which she accersorised with jewellery pieces like jhumar, maagntika, necklace and sheer veil adorning her head. "I was initially nervous but the moment I stepped on the ramp, I felt so confident that I could not believe myself. It was as if I was in a trance-like state. But I guess it's easy when you love it," said the "Masaan" actress, who greeted the crowd with a salaam.</p><p><img src="http://dd508hmafkqws.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/styles/article_node_view/public/richa chadha ramp walk 3.jpg"></p><p>Praising Taandon' s collection, Richa said she is very selective about who she walks the ramp for and when she was told about the idea of the line, she immediately said yes. "Like my movies I am selective about ramp shows and have walked the ramp on very few occasions."</p><p>Taandon's collection was a series of period creations, comprising shararas, anarkalis, gararas, lehengas with intricate gold embellishments adding to the magnificence of each of the garments. "The Shahbanu muse is a dream-like vision straight out of the royal courtyard with mesmerizing beauty reflecting through her accentuated eyes and statement jewellery. So I could only think of Richa when I conceptualised the show," Taandon said.</p><p><img src="http://dd508hmafkqws.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/styles/article_node_view/public/richa chadha ramp walk 4.jpg"></p><p>The fabrics in the bridal couture line ranged from lightweight georgettes to rich velvets. The collection displayed a heavy use of zardozi gold embroidery, royal blue and wine hues combined with understated yet luxurious mirror work inspired from Persian culture and architecture. Talking about having live musicians during the show, the designer said she wanted to transport everyone to the mughal era and that's why she chose the Nizami Brothers, best known for "Rockstar" song "Kun Faya Kun". "We are glad that we were invited for such a grand show.
