Abuser of girls’ home inmates still at large

The State Child Rights Commission had sought a report from the department over his appointment in the same institution

KOZHIKODE: The department of social justice is yet to take any action against the person who abused the girls’ home inmates here, who was reappointed even after multiple cases were registered against him by the police.

DC had reported on July 26 that Muhammed Kutti alias Mammutti, a temporary staffer at the girls’ home who was suspended for multiple abuse of girl inmates, was reappointed even after the police registered cases against him.

“The man is roaming free on the campus posing a threat to all women inmates,” said Swapna Parameswarath, a member of Punarjani.

“We learnt that the in-house report of the department of social justice also had revealed that the man was guilty,” Swapna said, adding that the women’s group was planning to approach the court against the appointment.

However, the State Child Rights Commission had sought a report from the department over his appointment in the same institution.

Meanwhile, collector N. Prasanth also sought a report from the juvenile home authorities over the issue.
