Aditya Verma meets Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for Bihar affiliation

‘I even informed the Hon'ble Minister about Bihar being derecognised after 65 years’

New Delhi: The petitioner of the IPL spot-fixing case and secretary of the unrecognised Cricket Association of Bihar, Aditya Verma, on Monday met Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to voice his grievance about BCCI not granting full membership status to his state.

"I apprised him (Sonowal) of the state of affairs pertaining to the country's cricket and how more than 11 states in the country are not able to play first-class cricket conducted by the board, in spite of the popularity of the game," Verma claimed in his media release.

"I even informed the Hon'ble Minister about Bihar being derecognised after 65 years due to apathy of the BCCI and that players hailing from the third largest populated state in our country are not playing cricket for the last 15 yrs. I also handed over a memorandum with my grievances," the release further stated.

"I further urged the Hon'ble Minister to give direction to the BCCI to end isolation of the north-eastern states," Verma further claimed.
