Students contribute their mite for a good cause

Students of MES will be handing over collected money during Ramzan to Cancer Institute

Chennai: Abdul Hasan, a class 8 student of Razeena Matriculation Higher Secondary school collected around Rs 2,000 during the Ramzan month as he believes that it will be contributed for a good cause.

During Ramzan, Muslim Education Society (MES) inspired the students of Razeena Matriculation Higher Secondary School to collect money in 10s, 100s and 1000s and this year they collected around Rs 1.5 lakh.

The sum will be handed over to deserving organisations such as the Cancer Institute, dialysis centres and others. Mr Anwar M.P., secretary of MES, said this initiative was started 10 years ago with 25 members and now it had increased to 10,800 members. “The collection of money started from the beginning of the Ramzan month and ended till it was over. Nearly 600 students have contributed.”
