New Delhi: At a time when the BJP and the RSS are hosting iftar parties, apparently to woo the minorities, the Sangh (RSS) mouthpiece Organiser has attacked the tradition, saying that iftar parties have been reduced to “secular bonhomie and tokenism”.
On the other hand, VHP patron Ashok Singhal declared on Saturday that by 2020 “India will become a Hindu nation and by 2030 the entire world will be Hindu”. For Mr Singhal, the “revolution has already started”.
In a bid to woo the Muslim vote bank, the BJP in West Bengal and the RSS-affiliated Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) in Uttar Pradesh held iftar parties during the first week of this month.
The MRM will also be hosting Id Milan functions in various parts of UP later this month. With UP going to polls in 2017, RSS-backed Muslim outfits will hold Id Milan functions in Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Banda, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Bareilly, all cities with sizeable Muslim populations.
