Ex-MLA’s workers kidnap, gangrape Hassan minor

On July 10, the accused dumped the girl in front of her house and fled

HASSAN: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gangraped by three men, who work at a farmhouse belonging to a former MLA, in Kuppe village of Alur taluk in Hassan district last week. The girl went missing on July 7 and was found abandoned in front of her house on July 10 morning.

When the girl complained of stomachache the next day, her parents took her to a hospital, where she was found to have been raped. They brought the issue to the notice of the police in Alur, who subjected her to a medical test and scanning. The victim was produced before a magistrate to record her statement on Tuesday. A report from the forensic lab is awaited, a police officer told Deccan Chronicle on Wednesday.

The girl, who is a PU student, told her parents that she was kept in an under-construction house in a farm that belongs to former MLA Basavaraj in Alur taluk. The main accused, Lokesh, works as a writer at the farmhouse. The other culprits, Keshava and Devaiah, too work in the same farmhouse, she said.

On July 10, the accused dumped the girl in front of her house and fled. Lokesh, who was taken into custody, was questioned, while the other two are absconding.
