Chandrasekhar Rao is the maiden Chief Minister to start the 12-day long river fete
Karimnagar: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will script a record of sorts by formally launching maiden Pushkaralu of the state. In order to kickstart the mass holy bathing fete, he will perform traditional rituals to Godavari river at temple town of Dharmapuri on Tuesday 6.21 am. He along with his family members arrived at the town on Monday evening.
Incidentally, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao is the maiden Chief Minister to start the 12-day long river fete. He is going to fulfil his assurance, to take a holy dip in Godavari river at Dharmapuri made during hustings. Besides, he would gift offerings to the presiding deity of Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy temple of the town as promised if Telangana was achieved, when he was performing special prayers at the time of Pushkaralu held in 2003.
Amidst Vedic hymns and traditional music, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao along with several pontiffs, ministers, officials, Vedic pundits and priests will lead a procession to be taken out from the ancient temple to shores of Godavari at 5.40 am. He will take the holy dip after performing requisite rituals at 6.21 am. Later, the ministers and officials will have a holy dip in the river. Devotees will also begin taking dips at 22 venues of the event in district. Then, he will worship a new idol of goddess Godavari and recite prayers in Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy temple of the town.
The CM will be accompanied by his family members and adviser to government K.V. Ramana Chary. Mr Rao’s four mentors — Mruthyujaya Sharma, Yayavaram Chadrasekhar Sharma, Ashtakala Mohan, Cheppala Harinath Sharma will also be present in the inaugural ceremony.
