Breather for Sun TV till Monday

The Sun television network got temporary relief on Friday from attachment of its properties
New Delhi: The Sun television network got temporary relief on Friday from attachment of its properties, which are allegedly proceeds of the Aircel-Maxis deal, with the Enforcement Directorate informing the Supreme Court that the final order under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act for attachment will not be passed till Monday.
A bench of Justices Dipak Misra and Prafulla C. Pant referred to the CJI the petitions filed by the Sun TV, challenging the provisional order (PO) of attachment of its properties for posting before the regular 2G spectrum Bench.
The Madras High Court said since the 2G case was being heard and monitored by the Supreme Court, the petitioners should only approach the Apex Court. Accordingly, petitions were filed in the Apex Court. Justice Misra said the matter should go to the ‘2G bench’ and “we are not going to meddle with it”.
