Rajahmundry wears festive look for Pushkaralu

The city wears a festive look with welcome arches being erected at entry points
Rajahmundry: With just a few days to go for commencement of Godavari Pushkaralu on July 14, the city wears a festive look with welcome arches being erected at entry points while works related development of infrastructure and beautification are nearing completion.
Officials of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and the department of culture are setting up welcome arches bearing portraits of Godavari matha and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at all important entry points to the city to welcome devotees streaming in from near and far off places to partake in Godavari Pushkaralu by taking a holy dip, performing rituals and having a darshan in a temple.
With regard to infrastructure, all major thoroughfares are like Airport road, Central Jail road, RTC Complex road, Godavari Bund road, main road, East Railway Station to Hukumpeta road and others have been repaired along with laying of a fresh coat of bitumen.
Temporary dividers have been set up at narrow roads to regulate vehicular traffic. Road markings have been done and radium road studs are being set up to ensure safety of commuters during night time.
Street lighting has been improved by fixing LED lights and high mast lights have been set up at all important centres. Works on strengthening drainage network are underway and at major places, they have been completed. With regard to beautification of city, planting of ornamentals saplings on median strips of all the major roads is nearing completion.
These saplings are also being planted on medians of the national highway from Lalacheruvu Centre onwards covering city limits.
Civic authorities informed that temporary toilets, bathrooms and dress changing rooms along the bathing ghats are being set up and works related to them are nearing completion.
An underground pipeline has been laid to supply potable water along the bathing ghats through taps fixed within a few metres distance for the benefit of devotees. Municipal commissioner J. Murali said, “All the major works related to development of infrastructure and beautification of city will be over by July 13. We have a good quantum of water flowing in the river and bathing ghats are ready for use by devotees.” We are ready to host the fete as per schedule and ensure hasslefree dip and stay for the devotees in the city.”
