Karnataka minister Chinchansur in hotspot: Woman files cheque bounce case

The woman has alleged that the minister borrowed Rs 11.88 crore from her in 2011, but has not returned it

BENGALURU: A 30-year-old woman has filed a cheque bounce case against Textile and Ports Minister Baburao Chinchansur in a magistrate’s court. The woman has alleged that the minister borrowed Rs 11.88 crore from her in 2011, but has not returned it.

Ms Anjana A. Shanthaveer, 30, a resident of Nagarabhavi, filed a private complaint in the 21st ACMM court on July 3. She has stated in her complaint that Mr Chinchansur had borrowed the money in 12 installments in 2011 at an interest rate of 12 per cent per annum. She stated that Mr Chinchansur borrowed the money saying his factories were running under loss.

“The cheque he had given to me for the full amount dated April 30, 2015, bounced,” she has said. The court has registered the complaint and has slated the next hearing for July 14. The minister too filed a counter-complaint against Ms Shanthaveer through his Special Officer Dr Basavaraju at the Vidhana Soudha police station on July 3.

“Ms Shanthaveer has stolen my cheque book and is blackmailing me. She had managed to steal the cheque book some months ago. She has forged my signature, produced a cheque to the bank which has bounced. Now she is blackmailing me saying that she will tarnish my image if I won’t pay her money,” the complaint stated.
