Close Tasmac shops in Tamil Nadu: SDPI

The government must bring in total prohibition in the state and stop selling liquor
Coimbatore: The Social Democratic Party of India has demanded the imposition of total prohibition in the state stating that implementing the helmet rule and selling liquor only indicates the double standards of the government.
The president of the Thondamuthur wing of SDPI, A. Saifudden, said that, on one hand, the government has enforced the helmet rule to avoid deaths in road accidents but, on the other hand, is selling Tasmac liquor and is indirectly responsible for so many lives lost due to drunken driving.
The government must bring in total prohibition in the state and stop selling liquor. If it is not possible immediately, then to start with, Tasmac outlets located near temples, mosques, churches, schools, colleges and highways should be removed, they urged, in a petition to the collector.
